Mymensingh Girls' Cadet College
History:
Mymensingh Girls' Cadet College was established on 01 June 1982 covering 27.37 acres of land in the heart of Mymensingh town. It was the first girls' cadet college that came into being on the inheritance of Residential Model School (RMS). The aim of establishing the Girls' Cadet College was to spread quality education among the young meritorious girls with a view to making them all round potential citizen to qualify defense as well as civil services. after the admission tests for Class VIII, IX and X which were held at the very outset of the year 1983, the young girl cadets for the classes of VIII, IX and X walked into the first ever Girls' Cadet College on 29 March 1983. First admission test for class VII was held on 12 February 1983. On 29 May 1983 the first batch of class VII was inducted in Mymensingh Girls' Cadet College. However, the admission test for the cadets of Class XI was held on 6 August 1983 and they joined the college on 10 September 1983. The first Principal and project director was Capt. (Rtd) Karim Uddin Ahmad. First Vice Principal, Mr Ashraf Ali, joined on 18 October 1982 and the first Adjutant Capt (later Major) Monower joined on 07 August 1982. The College has run all the way since 1982 with its motto. "Oh lord Enhance my knowledge".

Mymensingh Girls` Cadet College established in the pleasant atmosphere of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin, nesting on the basin of the mighty river Brahmaputra, Mymensingh Girls` Cadet College, the pioneer Girls` Cadet College of Bangladesh has already proved its smart, prestigious and quality presence in the education sector of the country.
Mymensingh Girls` Cadet College is committed to give parental care to all its Cadets from its inception for which all Cadets stay here in a congenial and familial atmosphere with all modern amenities and equipment. Cadets` regular participations in games & sports and in all other co-curricular activities like Bangla & English debate, Poetry recitation, Quiz, dance, music competition etc make our cadets mentally and physically strong. To make each and every cadet an all-rounder for her-self and for the country, MGCC leaves no stone unturned.
Being devoted, our cadets have earned remarkable success in public examinations, different admission tests like Medical, Engineering, Universities and Armed Forces, in various national and international competitions including ICCLMM, IGCCS&DM, Olympiads etc. Recently one of the cadets of MGCC has achieved the golden opportunity to participate in “International Leadership Program on Education” (Grade 11-12) Hanoi, Vietenam after facing a very competitive competition arranged by GEIST that testifies the smartest and the vibrant activities of the College.
“Oh Lord, Enhance my Knowledge” with this motto, the first Girls` Cadet College of Bangladesh, Mymensingh Girls` Cadet College, has been successful in spreading Knowledge in the arena of Girls` education in Bangladesh in almost last 4 decades and many of ex-cadets are now contributing both home and abroad. I do believe it will continue in upcoming days as well with honour and dignity.
